Thomas S. Lam, MD, MPH

Co-Founder & Vice Chairman

Dr. Thomas Lam is the Co-Founder and Vice Chairman of Astrana Health, formerly known as ApolloMed. Dr. Thomas Lam has been a member of Astrana Health’s Board of Directors since January 2016. Dr. Lam has served as Chief Executive Officer of Astrana Health Management, formerly known as Network Medical Management, since January 2006 and has been a member of Astrana Health Management’s Board of Directors since 2005. From January 2006 to September 2014, Dr. Lam was the Chairman and CEO of APC. Since October 2014, he has served as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Financial Officer of APC.

Dr. Lam was the recipient of the Corporate Citizens of the Year Award from the Board of Directors of East Los Angeles College Foundation in April 2014. In February 2015, the YMCA Board of Directors of West San Gabriel Valley honored Dr. Lam as the recipient of the Heart of the Community Award. Dr. Lam received his medical training from New York Medical College and gastroenterology training from Georgetown University. Dr. Lam serves as the nominee of Astrana Health Management.

Kenneth Sim, MD

Co-Founder & Executive Chairman

Dr. Kenneth Sim is the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman of Astrana Health, formerly known as ApolloMed. He has been the Chairman of Astrana Health Management, formerly known as Network Medical Management (NMM), since 2013 and has been a member of the Board of Directors since 2006. Dr. Sim also serves as the Chairman of the board of APC. Dr. Sim is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and was awarded the Independent Physician Leadership Award in 2014 by the Los Angeles County Medical Association. Dr. Sim is also a member of the Governing Board of Directors at Alhambra Hospital Medical Center and a Board Member on the National Council of Asian Pacific Islander Physicians.

 As an entrepreneur, Dr. Sim founded “Healthcare City” in the City of Industry, California, which helped streamline the healthcare process by providing outpatient health services at one location which included a surgical center, a senior wellness center and laboratory, radiology and urgent care services. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of California, Los Angeles and received his medical training from the Loma Linda University School of Medicine and the Autonomous University of Guadalajara, Guadalajara, Mexico.

Albert Young, MD, MPH

Chief Administrative Officer

Dr. Albert Young is the Chief Administrative Officer at Astrana Health, formerly known as ApolloMed. Dr. Young has served as the Chief Administrative Officer since 2019 and had previously served as Chief Medical Officer since 2006. Dr. Young received his medical degree from West Virginia University School of Medicine and completed his internal medicine residency training at Los Angeles County and USC Medical Center. Upon completing his residency training, Dr. Young completed a fellowship in pulmonary medicine. An advocate of general preventive medicine, Dr. Young also obtained a master’s degree in public health from UCLA in 1998.

Jeremy R. Jackson, MD

Chief Quality Officer

Dr. Jeremy Jackson joined Astrana Health, formerly ApolloMed, as Chief of Staff in March 2021 and was promoted to Chief Quality Officer in June 2021. In his current role, he spearheads critical areas including quality improvement, risk adjustment, and member experience programs. Bringing over a decade of healthcare industry experience to Astrana Health, Dr. Jackson blends his management consulting expertise with his background as a practicing physician. His previous experience includes a tenure as a Project Leader in the healthcare practice at the Boston Consulting Group.

From 2011 to 2018, Dr. Jackson served in the Department of General Surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, affiliated with Harvard Medical School, where he led postoperative care teams for patients with a wide spectrum of general surgical conditions. Further, he served as Chief Resident in Quality and Patient Safety at the Department of Surgery at the Boston Veterans Affairs Hospital from 2017 to 2018 and as a research fellow focused on Surgical Oncology in the Department of Pediatric Surgery at the Children’s Hospital Los Angeles from 2014 to 2016.

Dr. Jackson obtained his Doctor of Medicine from the University of Michigan Medical School. He also holds a Bachelor of Arts in Biological Sciences, graduating Magna Cum Laude, from the University of Southern California.

Brandon K. Sim, MS

Chief Executive Officer

Brandon Sim is the President and Chief Executive Officer of Astrana Health, where he leads the company in its mission to enable providers in delivering accessible, high-quality, and high-value care to all. At Astrana Health, he leads the healthcare delivery transformation effort for physicians and patients and oversees the company’s strategy, growth, operations, and technology innovation. Prior to his current role, he served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Technology Officer, and Vice President of Engineering at Astrana Health, formerly known as ApolloMed, joining the organization in 2019. 

Prior to joining Astrana, Mr. Sim was a Quantitative Researcher at Citadel Securities from 2015 to 2019, and before that, co-founded and served as Chief Technology Officer at Theratech, a medical device startup. Mr. Sim serves as a board member for a private healthcare technology company and prior served as a board member of Cardio Diagnostics (NASDAQ:CDIO).

Mr. Sim received his M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering as well as his B.A. in Statistics and Physics with high honors from Harvard University.
